It's a place created especially for women and staffed by women....with an emphasis on health education and a focus on patient satisfaction!
The health care team at Newton Medical Center has realized the need to incorporate certain women's health services into one facility that offers advanced diagnostic testing and health education. The Women's Diagnostic Center is located in The Physician's Pavilion on Hospital Drive. Women are now able to obtain the health tests and
information they need in one private and beautiful outpatient setting.
Because our primary goal has always been to deliver the highest quality care to our patients, we have added digital mammography to our women’s diagnostic services. Digital mammography uses computers and specially designed digital detectors to produce an image that can be displayed on a high-resolution computer monitor, transmitted and stored just like computer files.
With digital mammography the radiologist reviews electronic images of the breast. The radiologist can adjust the brightness, change contrast and zoom in for close-ups of specific areas of interest. Being able to manipulate images is one of the main benefits of digital technology.
Another convenience of digital mammography over film-based systems is that it can greatly reduce the need for retakes due to over or under exposure. This potentially saves additional time and reduces your exposure to x-rays.
Mammography - When it is time for your screening mammogram, you can feel confident with our experienced, certified and accredited team of radiologists and technologists. Breast cancer caught in its earliest stages offers a 90 percent likelihood for a cure.
Remember that early detection is your best chance for surviving breast cancer!
Stereotactic and Ultrasound guided Breast Biopsy - When biopsy is the only way to determine whether an abnormality seen on a mammogram is benign, most patients can get an accurate biopsy without the need for an open surgical procedure. Stereotactic and Ultrasound guided Breast Biopsy - minimally invasive procedures - may be the procedure for you. Ask your doctor.
One of the greatest benefits of these closed biopsy methods is the avoidance of an open surgical procedure.
Bone Densitometry - When you're concerned about bone loss, Bone Densitometry is the most accurate way to diagnose early stage osteoporosis in time to begin medical treatment that can prevent further bone loss and possibly rebuild bone.
You can take steps now to prevent the debilitating effects of Osteoporosis.
Breast MRI – Newton Medical Center also offers state of the art Breast MRI and Breast MRI guided biopsies at The Imaging Center conveniently located across from the hospital. All Breast MRI procedures are performed with a dedicated breast coil and interpreted using state-of-the-art CAD (Computer Aided Detection) software.
All breast imaging studies are reviewed by our fellowship-trained Breast Radiologist.
