The health care team at Newton Medical Center has realized the need to incorporate certain women's health services into one facility that offers advanced diagnostic testing and health education. The Women's Diagnostic Center is located in The Physician's Pavilion on Hospital Drive. Women are now able to obtain the health tests and
information they need in one private and beautiful outpatient setting.

Newton Medical’s Women’s Center utilizes ImageChecker® Technology, which is the first FDA approved computer-aided detection system for screening and full-view diagnostic mammograms. This system digitizes a mammogram and analyzes it using a proprietary signal processing software, which highlights areas on the mammogram which contain features associated with cancer. After a radiologist views the original mammogram conventionally, he or she then reviews the R2-CAD markers displayed on low-resolution video monitors.

The ImageChecker System is like a "Spell-Checker" for medical images. It is designed to assist radiologists in reducing the number of false negative readings resulting from observational lapses, by drawing their attention to areas that may warrant a second review.

Thus, the ImageChecker System helps reduce observational oversights and aids radiologists with early detection of breast cancers.
