Newton Medical Center Laboratory is committed to providing the highest quality of pathology and laboratory services with empathy and uncompromising ethical standards. The laboratory utilizes state of the art equipment, and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Routine tests are performed in-house while more esoteric tests are sent to a reference lab. The laboratory is under the direction of three board certified pathologists:

For the convenience of our community, outpatient phlebotomy services are provided for Quest Laboratories, Lab Corp and Lab One. This service is available Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00 (excluding holidays) in the outpatient laboratory located in the Knox Surgical Center.
Newton Medical Center Laboratory encourages patients to actively participate in their own care and is committed to practices which promote patient safety.
1. The Laboratory has a policy to assure appropriate patient identification. All patients will be asked to state their name and date of birth and/or show their hospital arm band or another form of ID prior to any specimen collection or blood draw. In the even the patient is not able to communicate, a relative may provide this information.
2. The Phlebotomist will wash their hands or use an approved hand sanitizer in front of the patient and will wear gloves during specimen collection.
3. Patients are encouraged to report concerns about safety or lack of adherence to policy. |
