Is Your Child Buckled Up? NMC Offers Free Car Seat Safety Check.

Newton Medical Center is urging parents to learn about car seat safety.

"We feel that one of the most important jobs you have as a parent is keeping your child safe when riding in a car," explained Tammy Hotz, RN, Clinical Manager of The BirthCare Center.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children in the United States.

"Proper use of car safety seats helps keep children safe," says Cathy Williams, First Steps Coordinator in The BirthCare Center. Williams recently earned national certification in child passenger safety during a four-day course at the Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute, sponsored by the University of Georgia.

Parents are invited to drive up to The BirthCare Center entrance on Saturday, September 26 between noon and two ofclock in the afternoon where Williams and several other certified instructors will provide a FREE car seat safety check.
